Wins At Wall
Wall
Township, N.J. (May 6, 2007) Jimmy Blewett of Howell,
N.J. drove to his first NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour victory
of the season by besting his brother, John , at Wall
Township Speedway. Blewett passed Reggie Ruggiero of
Rocky Hill, Conn. on the second lap and led the rest
of the event. Ruggiero and John Blewett, swapped the
second position before John Blewett, kept if for good
on lap 38.
It was the first time brothers had
finished first and second in a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event since Mike and
Ted Christopher accomplished the feat in 2004 at New Hampshire International
Speedway.
Blewett’s second career win occurred in the first Flash
Format race of the 2007 season. The Flash Format features qualifying races and
a sprint distance feature. The Thunder at the Shore race distance was 50 laps.
Blewett unofficially takes over the point lead by 31 points over Matt Hirschman.
Ruggiero, winner of the last series race at Wall,
was third. Ted Christopher of Plainville, Conn. was fourth and defending series
champion Mike Stefanik of Coventry, R.I. rounded out the Top-5.

The next event for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is at the Stafford Motor
Speedway in Stafford Springs, Conn. on May 25.
